Best movie pairing ever? Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep are in talks to star together in August: Osage County.
The Oscar-winning starlets are considering teaming up to play mother and daughter in a film version of the Pulitzer prize-winning play, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.
Tracy Letts’s story centers on a family that begins to unravel after the death of the patriarch. Double Oscar darling Streep will play the drug-addicted mother of the clan, while Roberts — who won a Best Actress Academy Award for her hit film Erin Brockovich — will play her daughter, whose teacher husband is having an affair with a student.
John Wells is already signed up to direct the project for The Weinstein Company, working from a script he penned with Letts. August debuted at Chicago’s Steppenwolf Theatre Company in 2007 and enjoyed stints on Broadway and London’s West End.
