Michael Douglas feels that it was his family’s fame and the history of substance abuse that his son has fallen into drug addiction and crime and now he is pleading the judge to show some leniency upon his son.
Michael had written a handwritten letter which was addressed towards federal judge. In that letter he said that although he loves his son but he is not blind of his actions and does not want his son to shatter.
Cameron Douglas who was arrested in July at the Manhattan hotel admitted in January that he dealt methamphetamine and cocaine. He was found guilty to the drug charge which makes a mandatory 10 years in prison but all his lawyers and the supporters are asking for a lesser time.
Michael also wrote in the letter that Cameron is the only child of a bad marriage between him and his first wife Diandra Douglas. Cameron had produced the substance abuse problem at the age of 13 and sloughed off at the school.
Cameron also found some success as a club DJ and hence got some movie roles in 2003’s ‘It Runs in the Family’ which also starred his father and his grandfather.
