Miley Cyrus has been tipped to star in a teen horror trilogy bound for the box office The Disney princess, 17, is attached to star in an adaptation of Lisa McMann’s edgy young-adult paranormal thriller novel Wake, which is being produced by Paramount Pictures and MTV Films, The Hollywood Reporter’s Risky Business Blog dished Thursday
Wake is one of three New York Times best-selling novels about a 17-year-old girl named Janie with the unwanted ability to become pulled into other people’s dreams. A Nightmare on Elm Street for the new age, anyone? It’s not long before Janie finds herself pulled into a terrible nightmare, which takes the teen from mere witness to active participant.
The sequels, Fade and Gone, detail Janie’s investigations with boyfriend Cabel into a cult of corrupt teachers at their high school.
Disturbia’s Christopher Landon has been hired to write the script.
