Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange: Calling rewrite! Marvel, which recently brought Scott Derrickson (Deliver Us From Evil) on board to direct Doctor Strange, is now in negotiations with Jon Spaihts to rewrite the script. Spaihts is best-known for penning the first draft for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. Marvel still needs to decide who will play the good doctor, a neurosurgeon turned Sorcerer Supreme and protector of Earth; the short list reportedly includes Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jared Leto. The Bourne Legacy

Bourne 5: Universal has announced that the fifth installment in the Bourne series will be delayed from August 14, 2015, to July 15, 2016. We trust this is a good thing, allowing more time for the project to be as good as possible; Justin Lin is set to direct the spy thriller, with Jeremy Renner returning in the starring role. The change opens up a release date that has already been filled with the studio’s NWA movie, Straight Outta Compton. [Screen Daily]

Django Unchained / Zorro

Quentin Tarantino: His movies are known for “crossing over” and mixing genres, so perhaps it’s no surprise that Quentin Tarantino is dipping his ties into comic book territory with a Django Unchained / Zorro crossover. It’s a sequel to a comic book adaptation of Tarantino’s 2012 Western, written by Reginald Hudlin. Comic book veteran Mark Wagner will co-write with Tarantino; Zorro, of course, is an outlaw vigilante who serves up justice in the Old West. [Variety]

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The final trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, due in theaters on July 11, features fierce new footage as apes and humans prepare for an epic battle that will determine the future of the planet. Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, and Andy Serkis star. [20th Century Fox]
