Underworld

Underworld: After four installments, it’s time for a reboot of the Underworld series. The first film, starring Kate Beckinsale and directed by Len Wiseman, was released in 2003, the last (so far) in 2012, and now Lakeshore Entertainment has hired Cory Goodman (Priest, the upcoming The Last Witch Hunter) to write a reimagined version of the vampires vs. werewolves franchise, which has made more than $ 450 million worldwide. Pacific Rim

King Arthur: Charlie Hunnam (TV’s Sons of Anarchy) is in final negotiations to star in Guy Ritchie’s untitled King Arthur project, an epic retelling of the legendary story that is intended to span six films. Last year Hunnam was set to star in the sexy 50 Shades of Grey before pulling out of the movie before production began. Rumor has it that Idris Elba, who co-starred with Hunnam in Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim, is circling an appearance as Merlin. [Deadline]

Rock 'n' Roll High School

The Ramones: Martin Scorsese will direct a movie about The Ramones, the pioneering band that kicked off the punk rock movement in the mid-1970s. It’s just one of multiple projects, including a documentary and a book, that are being planned by the band’s estate, since all four members of the original group, formed in 1974, have died. The group’s first album was released in 1976, and after a personnel change, they made a memorable appearance in 1979’s Rock ‘n’ Roll High School. [Billboard]

The Pyramid

The Pyramid Trailer: Adapting the deadpan cadence of a 1970s TV spot, the first trailer for The Pyramid helps to establish the movie’s unique tone. Ashley Hinshaw, James Buckley, Denis O’Hare, Christa Nicola, and Amir K star as a team of archeologists who find something quite a bit different than what they’re searching for. The movie opens in theaters on December 5. [MovieClips]
