MySpace names Pink as best female artist

Music and social networking site MySpace has named singer Pink as best female artist.

The list, which ranked the best male artists, female artists, bands, music videos, saw Madonna being pushed to number three by newcomer Lady Gaga, who was placed at number two, the Herald Sun reported.

Next on the list was Britney Spears, who made it to number four, and in fifth place was Mariah Carey.

MySpace and music critics began building a list of 25 nominations for each category earlier this year, and fans were then encouraged to vote for their favourites online, so Top Tens could be determined.

The top ten female artists who made it to the list were:
