The Fabu World of Home Decor Will Have To Wait: Oprah protege Nate Berkus will undergo an appendectomy after being hospitalized with appendicitis following a Tuesday morning appearance on The TODAY Show, a rep for the interior decorator tells PEOPLE.
Berkus was in pain before taping his appearance. He went to the hospital after the show and was examined for several hours before doctors discovered he was suffering from appendicitis. Nate is expected to undergo the appendectomy, and be back on his feet quickly. The diagnosis and pending surgery will, however, push back tapings of his design-based talk show, The Nate Berkus Show, now in its first season.
“He was on The TODAY Show this morning and he wasn’t feeling well,” Berkus’ rep told the mag. “He powered through and then went straight to the hospital after that and they learned he had appendicitis. Doctors expect a quick recovery.”
The publicist continued: “He had to postpone tapings for now. He would have taped two shows today. It’s anticipated that he will be back next week.”
