Uh-oh….There’s more troubled in paradise for Basketball Wives’ former Golden Couple Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan.
The Los Angeles Lakers forward and former fiance of Gloria Govan of VH1′s Basketball Wives has been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, authorities in Sacramento County told The Sacramento Bee on Wednesday.
The name of the woman was not released, but she was described as “a woman who lived with him and with whom he had a dating relationship.”
Deputies arrested Barnes after responding to what was termed an incomplete 911 call from a residence around 4:16 PM, according to sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran. Deputies found Barnes and a woman both with visible injuries, but took Barnes into custody after determining he had been the primary aggressor, said Curran.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 13.
Late Wednesday, Barnes, 30, took to his Twitter page to profess his innocence.
“DON’T LET YOUR EARS WITNESS, WHAT YOUR EYES DIDN’T SEE!!!”
And in a text to Sacramento’s Channel 10 reporter Bryan May, Barnes exclaimed: “U know any domestic violence situation 9 outa 10 times the man gets arrested. That’s the case here I was the victim but still got arrested. No matter what I say people are gonna think what they want…”
Barnes, 30, signed a two-year contract worth $3.6 million with the Lakers in July as a free agent. The former UCLA player started 58 games last season for Orlando before signing with the Lakers.
Matt and Gloria called off their August wedding earlier this summer. The pair are the parents of twin boys.
