Moviefone’s New Release Pick of the Week
“Magic Mike”
What’s It About? Based on Channing Tatum’s real-life experience as an exotic dancer, the movie delves into the colorful world of male strippers.
See It Because: Well… there’s no other movie like it this year. Director Steven Soderbergh films entertaining spectacle and the movie gives us one of Matthew McConaughey’s best performances.

Moviefone’s Blu-ray Pick of the Week
“Fear and Desire”
What’s It About? Stanley Kubrick’s rarely-seen first movie tells an allegorical tale of four soldiers trapped behind enemy lines in a fictitious war.
See It Because: “Fear and Desire” was thought lost to time (supposedly Kubrick tried to single-handedly obtain every single copy of the film so that it was never seen). It’s a fascinating piece of film history that’s worth watching.

New on DVD & Blu-ray
“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”
What’s It About? Remember what we were saying about “film history”?
See It or Skip It: Skip it.

“Crooked Arrows”
What’s It About? One-time Superman, Brandon Routh stars as a mixed-blood Native American who must struggle between traditional and modern values as he coaches his reservation’s high school lacrosse team against the preppy champs. It’s every underdog movie ever.
See It or Skip It: See it, if you must watch every underdog movie.
(Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix)

“Disney Fairies: Secret of the Wings”
What’s It About? Tinker Bell has another direct-to-DVD adventure.
See It or Skip It: If you don’t get it, your daughter will turn into a slobbering human tantrum. Thanks Disney marketing!

“Madea’s Witness Protection”
What’s It About? This is the seventh Madea movie, I can just jump in without any context right?
See It or Skip It: For fans only.
(Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix | Redbox Blu-ray & DVD)

“Seeking a Friend For the End of the World”
What’s It About? Steve Carrell and Keira Knightley dabble in a romantic comedy, right before the world is destroyed. The leads’ chemistry carries the slight execution of the story.
See It or Skip It: See it.
(Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix)

“Take This Waltz”
What’s It About? Michelle Williams is torn between a handsome new stranger and her sweet but predictable husband, played by Seth Rogen. Beautifully shot, well acted and steamy romance scenes, but characters make unlikable choices.
See It or Skip It: See it, but you may not like where it goes.
(Also Available on Amazon Instant Video | Netflix)
