Snooki Eating Disorder 500x333 NYC Officials Put Kibosh On Snooki New Year’s Eve Ball Drop In Times Square

So much for a Very Snooki New Year’s Eve!

Officials in The Big Apple have pulled the plug on MTV’s buzzed-about “Snooki Ball Drop” in Times Square this New Year’s Eve, PopEater squeals snitched on Wednesday.

Earlier this month, MTV announced plans to put Jersey Shore star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi inside the ball that will drop in Manhattan’s Times Square to ring in 2011 as part of the network’s New Year’s Bash special.

No dice, say bosses in The Big Apple. Tempers of a many a New Yorker flared this week over the city government’s snail-esque response to the post-Christmas blizzard that blanketed much of the Northeast in more than two feet of snow on Sunday. Many side streets in the city’s outer boroughs remain unplowed, leaving residents snowed in. And tragically, at least two people — including a newborn — died during the storm after emergency service vehicles were unable to reach people in need due to impassable roads.

OK, so we know what you’re thinking: “What the hell does that have to do with the Snooki Ball, Castina?” you ask. We’ll put it this way, with the blitz of bad press surrounding Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office at the moment, the last thing politicians in the nation’s largest city need is another seedy public display by those damn Shorers!

“The Snooki ball drop isn’t going to happen in Times Square. At midnight, the crowd and the media will be watching Mayor Bloomberg, Dick Clark and the official ball drop, not a cast member of the ‘Jersey Shore,’” a well-placed snoopster reveals.

“No way would they allow this to take place. MTV rents a position in the Square that night like every other media outlet. You can’t get access to the Square without an official credential. You have to play by the official rules or you get kicked out, which is exactly what has happened to MTV and Snooki.”

Thankfully, for MTV’s ratings-crazed producers, there’s a Plan B. The network MTV has decided to move Snooki’s Human Hamster Drop from Manhattan to the vodka-soaked guidette’s signature stomping ground — Seaside Heights, New Jersey!

For those of you who plan on spending the last Friday night of 2010 at home with the tube, MTV still plans to use the stars of Jersey Shore for at-large reporting during the NYE festivities in Times Square. Pauly D, J-Woww, The Sitch and the rest of the gang are still on tap to lead the crowd in a collective fist pump in hopes of breaking the Guinness World Record for the World’s Biggest Fist-Pump Gathering.

The live 60-minute show (Dec. 31/11PM-12AM), hosted by comedienne Whitney Cummings, will also include a pair of performances from Flo Rida and a recap of the year in entertainment.
