Ok, Jim Jarmusch. Just take it. Take all our blood. Now. Few things seem as amazing as being undead creatures of the night and hanging out with Tom Hiddleston, Tilda Swinton and Mia Wasikowska. The director’s latest film, Only Lovers Left Alive, is still making the festival rounds before its April 11 theatrical premiere.

Centuries-old vampires Adam and Eve (Hiddleston and Swinton) reunite in a mutual thirst — for each other and pure blood untainted by the zombies (humans). The arrival of Eve’s free-spirited sister, Ava (Wasikowska), shakes things up for Adam, a reclusive, pessimistic musician, and his pragmatic partner, threatening their survival.

Jarmusch’s sardonic sense of humor and the utterly cool Hiddleston and Swinton — here grungy polymaths and sophisticated vamps happily living on the fringes in their own parallel universe — makes for one of the cleverest and most compelling takes on the blood-sucker mythology that we’ve seen in a while. Here’s the new trailer.
