‘OUAT’ showrunners say Robin’s ‘a fully formed, sentient being’ — but is he real? (S…

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

Ever since we saw our beloved Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) in Emma’s (Jennifer Morrison) wish world, we’ve been having a serious debate about the future of Outlaw Queen.

Is Regina (Lana Parrilla) just fooling herself, hoping Robin is real when everything else in this wish world is fake? Or could her true love actually be back within reach? After all, Charming (Josh Dallas) did wish for her — well, the Evil Queen, but that’s semantics — to get everything she deserved, and Regina deserves her true love.

Screener went to showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis for answers, and they did not disappoint.

“He is real — in that he is a fully formed, sentient being,” Horowitz says. “It’s an interesting and hopefully philosophical question that is raised. While he’s not the Robin we grew to know and love over the years on the show, he shares some essence of him, clearly, and that’s going to make things really dicey for Regina.”

“Dicey” might be understating things, since Regina’s hesitation over seeing Robin again has already robbed her and Emma of one escape attempt back to Storybrooke. Now she’s stranded in a world where she’s just murdered a king and queen, and kidnapped a princess (for all intents and purposes) — not exactly a great situation to find yourself in.

Luckily for Regina and Emma, Pinocchio — aka August (Eion Bailey) — is always around when you need a helping hand.

“August was always very instrumental in getting Emma to believe, and this second half is really going to test the belief of a lot of people,” Kitsis says. “We love the idea that August has always been this really bad guardian angel in Emma’s life — but every once in a while, he comes through… Their connection that dated from Season 1, we just loved the idea of going back to that.”

“Once Upon a Time” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
