Porn hackers infiltrate ‘Sesame Street’ YouTube page

For a brief period on Sunday, Sesame Street‘s YouTube page became no place for children. According to CNN, the show page for the popular kids’ series was overrun by porn hackers who reprogrammed the site with X-rated videos.

The page was immediately taken down — the site instead told users it was briefly offline “due to repeated or severe violations of our community guidelines” — and Sesame Workshop released an apology quickly after the incident. “Our channel was compromised and we are presently working with YouTube/Google to restore our original content,” Sesame Workshop said in a statement. “We always strive to provide age-appropriate content for our viewers and hope to resolve this problem quickly.” (YouTube also addressed the incident to CNN: “YouTube’s Community Guidelines prohibit graphic content … As always, we remove inappropriate material as soon as we are made aware of it.”

Though it’s not known who is responsible for the hacking yet, a message on the site claimed two users were responsible. One, named “MrEdxwx” denied the claim on his page: “I did not hack Sesame Street. I am an honest YouTuber … I work hard to make quality gameplay videos, and most important I respect the community guidelines.”
