Bitter rivals on the pop charts nearly 30 years ago, His Purpleness apparently still has a tough time playing second fiddle to the undisputed King of Pop. Spokesfolks and Lawyer Types for the “Little Red Corvette” guitarist recently threatened legal action against Sony Records over the alleged illegal use of the symbol he briefly used as a stage name in the ’90s, which mysteriously popped up on the originaly artwork for Michael Jackson’s forthcoming posthumous album, Michael.

The Michael cover art features a painted collage of pictures and icons designed by artist Kadir Nelson, who claims he based the design on “key moments and important people in Michael Jackson’s life.” Prince camp, however, believe the glyph’s uncanny likeness to the singer’s symbol is a little too coinkydinky to ignore.

The image has now been removed after the request from Prince’s team.

“No permission was granted. Sony Entertainment has removed the symbol,” read a statement released on Sunday.
