Been curious about Adult Swim’s new series “Rick and Morty”? Well, now you can have an early look at Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland’s animated show.
Adult Swim made the pilot for the series available online days before its Dec. 2 premiere date. In the above episode, genius grandfather character Rick and his dim grandson Morty go on an adventure through space and time that causes some major troubles with Morty’s school attendance.
“Rick and Morty” features the voice talents of Roiland, Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell and Spencer Grammer. Harmon explains it’s his and Roiland’s take on the British children’s television formula.
“I think that America’s 200 years old and our storytelling is worth money and our kids are valuable and that’s why we’re fascinating with the UK stuff, because it still has this connection to darkness that makes the laughs harder and the tears wetter,” Harmon tells Zap2it. “The invitation with that stuff is not to just be cynical for its own sake, but actually to revitalize optimism.”
“Rick and Morty” premieres on Dec. 2 at 10:30 p.m. on Adult Swim. What did you think of the pilot?
