In the most highly-anticipated moment of the night, Academy Award-winning actress Sandra Bullock was presented with the MTV Generation Award during the network’s 19th annual Movie Awards in Universal City, on Sunday night.
In her first televised appearance since announcing the adoption of her son, Louis, and her divorce from adulterous husband Jesse James, Sandra smiled graciously at the audience, who presented the scandal-bitten star a standing ovation. Sandra’s close pal Betty White, All About Steve co-star Bradley Cooper, and stunning starlet Scarlett Johansson –whose real-life husband Ryan Reynolds was nominated in the “Best Kiss” category with Bullock for The Proposal — presented the esteemed actress with the coveted award.
“The Generation is an award for old people who have extended their welcome, who should make nice and leave so someone new can come in, but that’s not going to happen,” said Sandra, who looked elegant in a silver black dress and sleek ponytail. “No matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do. And I’m not going to go anywhere.”
Always the jokester — Sandra locked lips with Scarlett to make sure she didn’t feel left out.
“Scarlett, I really love you and all, but this is really uncomfortable. Why are you here?” Sandra said.
“I’m here because Ryan couldn’t be here, and I wanted to be here when you accepted your award for ‘Best Kiss.’ I thought you should’ve won because it was sweet, and really soft.”
Sandra shared a similar on-stage smooch with Oscar competitor Meryl Streep earlier this year.
