New Movie Releases DVD

Regis Philbin is still set to hang up his hat as one-half of the ABC morning gabfest Live! in November, and the hunt is narrowing for the new gabber who’ll join Kelly Ripa for dish with a side of danish weekday mornings at nine. The Wall Street Journal suggests that American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest, Bravo prez Andy Cohen, and Mark Consuelos — Mr. Ripa himself — have emerged as the frontrunners in the race to replace Reege.

Consuelos has a solid history with ABC executives; after all, he began his career almost 20 years ago as a male lead on the exiting daytime sudster All My Children. As head of NBC’s cable sister network, Cohen seems a curious choice for The Alphabet Network. Though much of his work is with FOX and the E! Network, Seacrest serves as co-host of ABC holiday countdown New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
