Sean Hannity responds to Jon Stewart’s smackdown: ‘You’re a fool’

Highlight on New Movie Releases DVD

On Thursday (July 21), a bearded Jon Stewart came out of retirement to put the smack down on Fox News anchor Sean Hannity (or, as Stewart calls him: Lumpy). On his radio show Friday, Hannity returned fire, calling the onetime “Daily Show” host an “idiot.”

“Attack me all you want,” begins Hannity, who Stewart called hypocritical for criticizing Barack Obama and praising Donald Trump over the same perceived personality traits. “I was right about Obama and you were a fool who had your head so far up Obama’s ass, Jon Stewart. I’ve never seen anybody kiss an ass like you kiss his.”

Presenting his retort, Hannity focused on economic statistics that he claims prove that Obama has had a poor tenure in the White House.

“The country’s not better off, Jon,” he continues. “We’ve got 95 million Americans out of the labor force, Jon. Do you care about them? I know you’re a rich liberal. [Are] you donating money to the 46 million American families on food stamps, Jon?”

Following Stewart’s under-the-desk viral appearance on pal Stephen Colbert’s “The Late Show,” Hannity implies that Stewart’s wealth has left him out of touch with the nation’s challenges.

“Hey Jon, [are] you helping out the 50 million Americans in poverty? Hey Jon, are you going to use your wealth from all of your comedy writers that lay out the material for you, are you going help pay down the debt Obama has accumulated?” Hannity fires back. “More debt than every other president before him combined? Are you going to help, Jon, the 1-in-5 American families in this country that don’t have a single family member that have a job?”

Listening to Hannity, it seems a shame that Stewart no longer has a regular program with which to respond. Fans will just have to wait, it seems, until his upcoming HBO video series debuts in September — with any luck, an entire installment will just be Stewart’s take on the Fox host, complete with a few new nicknames.
