In February, law enforcement officials in Los Angeles slammed the star with charges of battery and vandalism for an October fracas with an annoying snapper. The battery charge was dismissed. The actor allegedly kicked, punched, and threatened the photographer before breaking his camera.
Penn — who has won two Best Actor Oscars for his roles in Mystic River and Milk — was placed on 36 months of probation and ordered to perform 300 hours of community service, some of which can be fulfilled by his work for his Haitian relief organization. He was also ordered to undergo 36 hours of anger management.
