See What It'd Look Like if Tim Burton Made Animated Superhero Movies

Tim Burton is responsible for two of the best comic book movies of all time, or at least of the pre-superhero-overload era. And he wasn’t going to end with 1989’s Batman and its sequel, Batman Returns, either, having been long involved with another DC Comics adaptation, Superman Lives,  until the whole project fell apart.

Burton’s latest movie, an adaptation of the YA novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, is almost like an X-Men movie with him at the helm and modeled after his style of drawings, the sort seen in his book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories and in exhibitions of his concept design work.

That notion has us wondering what other actual superhero movies he could do with that style, maybe as animated features. Or perhaps what it would look like if he was a guest artist on the comic books themselves. Fortunately, artist Andrew Tarusov has started satisfying this wonder with a series of drawings of Marvel and DC superheroes (including Batman and Superman) meant to mimic the Burton brand.
