Seth Rogen is known for his laid-back self-awareness, so wouldn’t it be funny if he was one of those awards-hungry stars who constantly thinks of the academy’s praise? Probably! But, not surprisingly, Rogen seems to take even the crunch of awards season in stride.
During a Times Talk on ’50/50,’ the indie dramedy to end all indie dramedies, Vulture asked the star to give an honest read on the underdog’s Oscar chances.
“I think Will, honestly, has the best shot of being nominated out of anyone with the movie,” he said. Will is Will Reiser, the writer and personal inspiration behind the cancer comedy.
Rogen went on to say that when it comes to awards, he keeps his expectations measured. Of course.
“I got nominated for an Emmy once [for writing on HBO’s Da Ali G Show] and I did not write a speech,” he said. “I knew we weren’t going to win. I was 100 percent sure that The Daily Show was going to beat us. I feel like if I won an award and I was giving my speech and the music started, that’s all I’d remember, the humiliation I felt when the music started. It would mar the entire experience for me.”
Cue the music…
