The “ultimate dinner party” continued on Tuesday (Feb. 25) as Andy Cohen hosted the second part of the “Shahs of Sunset” reunion.
Part 1 was crazy, but Part 2 was just straight-up emotional. Tears were shed, apologies were made, someone’s mother showed up as a surprise and friendships were repaired as Bravo capped off the explosive third season by sitting Reza, MJ, Mike, Lilly, Asa and GG down to rehash all the craziness that occurred this season.
Reza finally apologized for using the F-word in a bar earlier that season. “All I can do is apologize for what happened and shed light on the experience that led me up to that point,” Reza says. “In the end, regardless, it was all wrong. It was a learning experience for me.”
One of the most memorable moments from the season was when the whole group went to Istanbul for the first time together. Reza didn’t like seeing completely veiled women in Istanbul, and didn’t like what it stood for aesthetically, symbolically or religiously. “It was a visceral reaction. I had never been around it before,” Reza says.
Asa didn’t judge the women’s customs, but she was upset over the fact that women were only allowed in the back corner of the mosque they visited. “These are all things to work for in the future,” Asa says.
But the drama wasn’t all in the past, as Lily and Reza began to argue over whether or not Iran was a safe place to live. Lily thinks that it’s not as dangerous as the media makes it out to be while Reza says that being gay is a death sentence there.
MJ then got choked up recalling the moment she realized she wanted kids, seeing Asa holding her newborn cousin, and confessed that she knew that it wouldn’t be easy for her to meet the right guy while on the show. And things got even more emotional for MJ when her mother Vita then joined the table as a surprise. Vita talked about what she didn’t like seeing on the show, like Reza calling everyone a b**** and MJ getting spray tanned. She then revealed that MJ wasn’t planned, but she still loves her nonetheless.
Mike and Reza then talked about their damaged friendship, both men cried thinking about the friendship they lost. Mike apologized to Reza, and they hugged it out. It was touching, and it looks like their friendship was saved.
