“Sherlock” hit San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday (July 24) with a huge new trailer for Series 4. After a year-and-a-half break since the finale of Series 3, fans are understandably losing their minds at the first new footage of the show.
Amanda Abbington teased at the panel that this season of “Sherlock” will the darkest yet, and from what we can tell from the trailer, she couldn’t be more right. After bringing Moriarty and his evil plans back into the mix at the end of Series 3, the boys are in for a bit of a rough and broody time as they solve their newest mystery.

“Solve” might be a strong word though, since apparently Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) has “absolutely no idea” where to start.
Most mysterious of all is the depiction of a cackling Toby Jones as a new villain in the upcoming episodes. He’s signed on to play another classic Sherlock villain, but as of now we still don’t know his identity yet.
The new season still doesn’t have a release date, but we do know it will be coming in 2017.
