Legendary director Steven Spielberg has blasted new movies filled with computer-generated imagery (CGI), insisting effects are necessary but avoid overusing the technology.

The filmmaker helmed 1993”s ‘Jurassic Park,’ the movie that received widespread acclaim for utilizing revolutionary technology to create realistic dinosaurs.

The movie set an example and led the way for filmmakers to use CGI, but Spielberg is adamant many modern films have too many effects.

“There”s so many tools we have now in the toolshed and it”s just a matter of individual choice of how we use these tools,” the Daily Express quoted the famous director as telling the Empire magazine.

He added: “I frankly think that special effects are becoming too special. There are too many special effects in all these movies today. It means that the movie starts on a special effect, ends on a bigger special effect, and the middle is the same special effect.”
