Fantastic Four‘s Ioan Gruffudd is taking the starring role in ABC’s drama pilot Forever.

Gruffudd will play New York City’s star medical examiner who is secretly immortal.  Through his investigative work with a police detective and his relationship with his best friend the show will “peel back the layers of Henry’s colorful and long life.”

The CW’s Supernatural spinoff has found two of its leads: Aussie actor Nathaniel Buzolic (who played Klaus’ brother Kol on The Vampire Diaries last season) and British actor Lucien Laviscount (Skins, Coronation Street) have been cast in key roles in the Chicago-based Tribes.

Actor Ralph Waite died Thursday at the age of 85, and though he was best known for for his portrayal of stalwart father figure John Walton on The Waltons, which ran from 1971-81, in recent years, he had recurring roles on Bones, NCIS, and Days of Our Lives.
