Walt Disney Pictures announced today that Marvel’s Iron Man 3 has hit $ 1.142 billion at the worldwide box office. The movie is now the #5 highest grossing film of all time globally and the #7 highest grossing film of all time internationally. Here’s the breakdown from Disney so far:

With just one week to go until the digital release of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (on March 12) and two weeks until the Blu-ray and DVD (on March 19), the film has crossed the $ 1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. The New Line/Warner Bros. and MGM release has earned $ 301.1<strong>What’s It About:</strong> Just in case you haven’t heard, Bella finally becomes a vampire, and this epic series comes to a close with a battle scene to end all battle scenes. <strong>Why We Love It:</strong> It’s nice to see a beloved franchise end with a bang rather than a whimper. Twi-hards loved this movie, and even the most cynical critic can appreciate the flick’s earnestness.
