Although it was previously announced that musician Jack White would make his debut as a cinematic composer on Gore Verbinski’s upcoming The Lone Ranger, Indiewire reports that scheduling conflicts have forced him to leave the project and that Hans Zimmer will serve as his replacement.
Zimmer has previously worked with Verbinski on films like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Weather Man and
Legendary composer Marvin Hamlish has passed away at the age of 68.
Jason Lee, a family spokesman, said Hamlisch died on Monday after a brief illness.
The composer had a wildly successful career — an EGOT winner, he earned a Tony, three Oscars, four Emmys, and four Grammys — and is most famous for his scores for “A Chorus Line” and “The Way we Were.”

“The Dark Knight Rises” composer Hans Zimmer has dedicated a song to the victims of the Aurora shooting.
“‘Aurora’ is dedicated to those who lost their lives and were affected by the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado,” Zimmer wrote on his Facebook page. “I recorded this song in London in the days following the tragedy as a heartfelt tribute to the victims and their families.”
