The contract stand-off between DirecTV and The Weather Channel has turned into a Category 5 fail-storm.
The satellite provider has dropped the largely weather-centric cable channel from its subscription service. Another carriage dispute has surfaced, this time between the Fox Networks and DirecTV. Fox issued a statement late Thursday that said unless it agrees to DirecTV’s new contract terms, the channels will go dark and subscribers won’t have access to nets like FX, National Geographic, Fox Movie Channel and many regional sports networks beginning Nov. 1.
Fox’s last deal with DirecTV expired at the end of September.
