When Joel Edgerton (seen in last month’s release Warrior) was cast in the prequel to The Thing, his character, Sam, was described as a helicopter pilot. Naturally, instant comparisons were drawn to Kurt Russell’s MacReady in John Carpenter’s 1982 The Thing. But piloting a chopper is about where the similarities end between Sam and MacReady as audiences will find out when The Thing opens
Joel Edgerton has joined the cast of Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby in the role of Tom Buchanan, Deadline reports.
In the film, based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic, Leonardo DiCaprio will play Jay Gatsby and Tobey Maguire wil play Nick Carraway, the narrator in the novel. Carey Mulligan will play Gatsby’s love, Daisy Buchanan, who is married to the wealthy Tom Buchanan with Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson.
