Since cable offers a direct connection from your cable provider, its VOD offerings are usually less prone to outside interference and can be streamed with surround sound and 3D when available.

Both of this week’s new wide releases, ‘Tower Heist’ and ‘A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas,’ have an Occupy Wall Street, proles-vs.-fat-cats subtext, but it was one particular fat-cat who seized a surprise win at the box office. ‘Puss in Boots’ not only managed to outduel both newcomers, but also shocked by holding on to almost all of the business it scored during last weekend’s record-breaking debut.
It’s a little difficult to think of the Harold & Kumar movies as “auteur-driven,” but screenwriters Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg have been at the helm of the series since the beginning, and it’s because of them that now three films seem connected to one another, and cohesive, even for a series about a pair of mischievous potheads.
