Yep, this “Carrie” remake is still happening.

According to Deadline, Julianne Moore has signed on to the upcoming horror film. She’ll play Carrie’s nutso mom, Margaret White. (The role was originally portrayed by actress Piper Laurie, whose performance got her a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nod.) Joining Moore will be Gabriella Wilde, who’ll play popular girl and fellow Carrie classmate Sue Snell.

janelevyevildead Jane Levy, Bruce Campbell Talk Evil Dead RemakeVery soon, filming will commence on Evil Dead, Fede Alvarez’s remake of the Sam Raimi film starring Bruce Campbell. Recently, the redo – which saw Diablo Cody coming in to make a few revisions to the script – faced a bit of a casting switcheroo.

Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror, Priest) dropped out and Jane Levy (pictured) stepped in.

At least it isn’t “Psycho” “Rear Window.” According to Variety, DreamWorks has begun plans to remake the Alfred Hitchcock classic “Rebecca” with “History of Violence” screenwriter Steven Knight.

Knight — Oscar nominated for writing “Dirty Pretty Things” in 2002, and also responsible for the David Cronenberg film “Eastern Promises” — will apparently go back to the Daphne DuMaurier source novel for his adaptation, and not work directly off Hitchcock’s moody thriller.
