Got a few extra bucks laying around? A homeless Ohio man, who once shared a tent with silver-voiced radio announcer Ted Williams, is auctioning off a bundle of cardboard signs — baring William’s handwriting — that the father of nine used to panhandle alongside the Columbus freeway.
The portion of proceeds from the upcoming eBay auction will benefit a local homeless charity.
Williams, whose “golden voice” video became an Internet sensation earlier this month, says he’s left a Texas rehab facility because he was unhappy with his treatment. The longtime addict and alcoholic voluntarily checked himself out of the Origins Recovery Center in South Padre Island. Ted, 53, had spent less than two weeks there after checking in following a three-episode appearance The Dr. Phil Show.
Since finding the public spotlight, Williams has fielded job offers from Kraft, The Oprah Winfrey Network, and the Cleveland Cavs.
