Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard has joined the cast of NBC’s newest Law & Order spinoff: Law & Order: Los Angeles.

The Winnie actor will play a LA Deputy District Attorney opposite Alfred Molina, who was previously announced as a prosecutor on the drama. Howard was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award for Hustle & Flow in 2005.
Dick Wolf, creator of the Law & Order franchise, made the announcement at the Television Critics Association Summer Session in Beverly Hills on Friday. Wolf noted that the combination of Howard and Molina makes him feel like the manager of the 1961 Yankees when legendary sluggers Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris hit the field as teammates
Also joining the cast of LOLA – as the Law & Order spinoff is nicknamed — is Salt star Corey Stoll, who guest-starred in the original Law & Order.
Law & Order: Los Angeles debuts Sept. 29.
