Sure, the attractive cast of ‘The Avengers’ (led by Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans) made the film’s first trailer extra sexy, but you know what didn’t hurt? The use of appropriately named (and totally awesome) ‘We’re in This Together’ by Nine Inch Nails. In fact, some of the coolest trailers in recent years have been set to songs by NIN. Ahead, five movies made sexier (or a whole lot scarier) by some killer NIN tunage.
‘Unbreakable’ (2000) — ‘The Way Out Is Through’
M. Night Shyamalan only wishes he could still give us goosebumps — so perhaps he should consider using more NIN tracks, like ‘The Way Out Is Through’ in this trailer for ‘Unbreakable.’ When marketing is so much better than the movie itself…
’300′ (2006) — ‘Just Like You Imagined’
You can watch this mesmerizing trailer over and over and over again. Then punch up the track in your iTunes.
‘A Perfect Getaway’ (2009) – ‘The Wretched’
The first song here is sunny, but when this happy honeymoon starts to get sinister, it’s Reznor and Co. who bring the feel-bad suspense in a rapid montage of violence at this trailer’s very end.
‘Terminator Salvation’ (2009) – ‘The Day the World Went Away’
A perfectly apocalyptic song with the right note of pathos for Terminator Sam Worthington’s “Am I a man or a machine?” plight.
‘Red Riding Hood’ (2011) ‘The Hand That Feeds’
With a song this compelling on the trailer, it makes even a box-office flop look like a must-see.
‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ (2011) ‘Immigrant Song’
Trent Reznor (who’s also providing the score for the film) and Karen O put a sexy, techno gloss on the Led Zeppelin classic for a quick-edit video that gives us chills — and not just because of the snow-bound Swedish setting.
