‘The Flash’: Barry screwing around with time has a terrible consequence

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) may have thought he was solving all of his problems when he went back in time to save his mom on “The Flash.” Of course, after watching the Season 3 premiere, we know that’s simply not the case.

Unfortunately for Barry, it was a deed he couldn’t simply undo either. After asking Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher) to fix things by going back in time to murder his mom, in theory setting the timeline back on track, Barry arrived in present day only to realize he’s destroyed a family.

That’s right, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris (Candice Patton) are estranged. “The Flash” has faced some very serious threats throughout its first two seasons. Splitting up the West family, though? That’s a dark path to tread down.

It needs to be said that Joe West is the best father the “Arrow”-verse could hope for. You can try to find someone better, but from the very beginning nothing has been more important to him than his children. The relationship he and Iris share is special. Now, in the blink of an eye, it’s been erased.

That’s a deed Barry is going to have to come to terms with. He’s simply deleted the bond between his adoptive father and the woman he loves. Coming to terms with it is going to be difficult without knowing how deep the divide goes, though.

After all, if Iris and Joe aren’t speaking, does she know Barry is the Flash? Chances are she’s not part of the team but is she in contact with anyone or has she isolated herself? Whatever the case, this does not bode well for Iris and Barry’s romance.

Knowing Joe and Iris aren’t speaking opens up a number of possibilities and none of them are good. Unfortunately for fans, you’re going to have to wait a week to see how it plays out.

“The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
