ERC Box Office and other sources are reporting that Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, the grand finale to the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s supernatural romance series, scored an estimated $ 71.2 million in its opening day, including Thursday night previews and midnight screenings which accounted for $ 30.4 million.
That amount would make it the sixth highest opening day ever, behind Breaking Dawn – Part 1‘s $ 71.6 million and New Moon‘s $ 72.7 million, but it doesn’t look likely to set a record for the franchise and is currently projected to make roughly $ 135 million over the three-day weekend. Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has grossed an estimated $ 162.2 million worldwide through Friday.
