New York Times has banned the use of work ‘twitter’ in the content that publishes in the newspaper. The reason cited for keeping away the now famed word, is that it is not Standard English.

Editor of the paper Phil Corbett has written that the newspaper uses only Standard English in news articles. He also said that everyone does not use the micro blogging site and so many may not be familiar with the word.

But he said that the word tweet might be acceptable occasionally for some special effect
