There’s a new werewolf in town on ‘Shadowhunters’

Highlight on New Movie Released DVD

The downworld on “Shadowhunters” is getting a new member on Monday (Jan. 16), as a scrappy, new werewolf named Maia (Alisha Wainwright) makes her debut.

This new episode looks decidedly grim for Jace (Dominic Sherwood), seeing as the werewolves of the city are hunting him down, most likely in retribution for the werewolf Valentine killed at the end of “A Door into the Dark.” A pack of bloodthirsty werewolves don’t seem like the forgiving type, so here’s hoping Jace can reunite with his friends at the Institute before they track him down.

The sneak peek “Shadowhunters” released introducing Maia makes her seem like a possible ally… But we’re not so sure yet.

According to Isaiah Mustafa, who plays pack leader Luke, Maia will be getting off to a shaky start with more than one of our favorite characters.

“When she comes in, you kind of get a sense that there’s a new family member now, so there’s a little bit of jealousy going on between her and some characters,” Mustafa says. “Whenever there’s a pack leader like Luke, you want to try to get his attention. In the sense that he’s a pack leader, he’s also Clary’s (Katherine McNamara) like father, so there’s a little bit of a kind of butting of heads at some point.”

Sounds to us like Clary might feel the slightest bit possessive over her father figure, which is understandable. Given that her mom tried to kill her brother, and her dad is trying to kill literally everyone, we can forgive her for wanting Luke all to herself.

“Shadowhunters” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Freeform.
