The Dubbo rock band Thirty Merc will release its new album Mousetrap Heart today. The band will start a tour from July 1 in Wollongong and visit many cities across the world to give performances.
The band is known in Australia for its hard work. It gave 68 performances in just 90 days once. The band is named after and old Mercedes Benz car, which was owned by lead singer Rai Thistlethwayste. And this time they will not take the beaten up car along with them on a tour as they used to be.
Rai has said.” It’s a bit ostentatious to be the lead singer of a band called Thirsty Merc driving a thirsty Merc with the number plate THIRSTY. It’s a bit much.”
He bought the car in 2002 for transporting the equipment of the band for rehearsals nad gigs in Sydney. Thistlethwayste says.” We’ve considered touring the car for one last hurrah but management always step in and tell us it wouldn’t make the first gig,”
Soon the band will release its third album Mousetrap Heart for which the band was recording for two months in Los Angeles. The album has new guitarist Matt Smith. This new album is a feel-good for the band, which is seeing it as a new start.
