Planned to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the infamous vessel’s launch and subsequent loss early next year, “Titanic: Blood and Steel” is being planned as a television miniseries to air in 12 parts. Casting now underway,
Variety reports that Derek Jacobi (
Gladiator,
The King’s Speech) has signed on with Neve Campbell (
Scream,
Wild Things) and Chris Noth (
Cast Away,
Sex in the City) likely to do so as well.
Jacobi will play Lord William Pirrie, responsible for the company that constructed the vessel. Noth would appear as J.P. Morgan and Campbell a period reporter.
A “prequel” of sorts to traditional narratives regarding the ship (Titanic, A Night to Remember), “Blood and Sand” will concentrate on the construction of the RMS Titanic and the sociopolitical climate of the era.
Ciaran Donnelly (“The Tudor”, “Stardust”) will direct with production, which is beginning immediately in Serbia.
