‘Total Divas’ crowns the smarter Bella twin and it doesn’t go well

It finally happened, the Bella Twins feud wrestling fans have been waiting too long for. In one corner, Brie Bella, her sister Nicky standing across the ring from her with a determined look on her face. The match type? An IQ test.

Of course we’re talking about E!’s “Total Divas.” You might be surprised to learn that a reality show about WWE’s female wrestlers doesn’t include much in the way as wrestling but the Dec. 21 episode still pitted sister against sister in a battle of the brains.

It all started innocently enough, with Brie and her husband Daniel Bryan — former WWE champion, current “Smackdown Live” general manager — mocking Nikki for how dumb her dog is. From there things spiraled out of control until both sisters walked into a psychologist who administered the test.

This is where things got interesting. Typically, Brie is portrayed as the more earth-conscious, hippy-inspired of the two sisters. Nikki, on the other hand, loves the finer things in life — mansions, fancy dinners and all luxury has to offer. Her intelligence is also questioned quite often by her sister and brother-in-law.

It’s all in good fun but the perception was that this test should have been a walk in the park for Brie. Imagine our surprise when the results came in and not only did Nikki take the win… but by a large margin. Brie scored a 99 on the test, while Nikki snagged a 113. She also thinks Theodore Roosevelt was president during the Civil War, which is troubling…

That’s a first round knockout if ever there was one. Naturally, as Brie predicts, this isn’t something her twin sister is going to forget and almost immediately the smarter Bella starts holding her win over Brie’s head.

Sibling rivalry can be very entertaining and it would have been to great to see a Bella vs. Bella feud in a WWE ring. Given Brie’s retirement — for now — and her currently being pregnant though, that’s something that isn’t going to happen anytime soon.

Luckily, in the meantime, we’ve got “Total Divas” and “Total Bellas” — when it returns — to fill in that gap. While wrestling may take a backseat to E!’s version of “reality,” we wouldn’t want these shows any other way.
