If Twitter management learns a user has passed away, the account can be removed and site bosses will help family members save a backup of any public Tweets.

Family members wishing to remove a deceased relative’s account and get a backup of Tweets must provide the following information:

- Your full name, contact information (including email address), and your relationship to the deceased user.

- The username of the Twitter account, or a link to the profile page of the Twitter account.

- A link to a public obituary or news article.
