Uninor introduces GPRS services for its Indian pre-paid subscribers

Uninor launches its GPRS data services for the pre-paid subscribers in India over nine Indian states with an announcement to offer a limited period free trial for Internet browsing till May 6 after which you will be charged with a tariff of 10p per 10KB.

The states where these services are available include UP, Uttaranchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh.

The users will be able to access this service via two products – myconnect 9 that is charged at Rs. 9 with 3 days of validity and offers 60 MB of free browsing while myconnect 90 is priced at Rs. 90 with validity of 30 days along with free browsing up to 3 GB. Both these plans provide easy access to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

David Meneghello, executive vice president, Marketing at Uninor said, “We had stated earlier that a lot can be done using the opportunities already available on 2G platforms to offer a good quality data experience and services. We make that start today.”

Uninor subscribers do not need to download the GPRS settings. However the Uninor’s Automatic Device Setting Server, a SIM card will install the needed settings on to the phone on its own when you insert the Uninor SIM into the phone. You will be charged Rs. 5 per MMS on your Uninor.
