Watch out Selina, ‘Gotham’s’ new Poison Ivy is coming for you

Maggie Geha on 'Gotham'

When “Gotham” unleashes a transformed Poison Ivy (portrayed by Maggie Geha), Selina (Camren Bicondova) needs to watch her back. While in the past Ivy — previously portrayed by Clare Foley — may have been best friends with the future Catwoman, the playing field has changed.

“Selina was her only friend in the world. She lost her parents and she’s very secluded from society, so Selina is the only one she has and the only one she trusts,” Geha tells Zap2it. “So I think what happens when Ivy goes through this transformation is I think she perceives that Selina betrayed her by not protecting her in letting this happen.”

“I think there’s some anger and resentment and I think it’ll be interesting to see their reaction to each other when they first meet after the transformation,” Geha continues. “For sure I think it’ll be a power struggle.”

There may also be a struggle when it comes to the other person in Selina’s life, Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).

“Bruce, when he decides to play the part of the billionaire playboy in future years, didn’t just decide to do that,” executive producer John Stephens says. “He became that guy for a while then pulled himself out of it.”

That’s where grown up Ivy comes in.

“We wanted him to have a sort of guide in that this year,” Stephens explains. “What if he had not quite an older sister, but an older guide — a woman who could bring him through that world. Ivy seemed like the natural person to do that.”

Still, that doesn’t mean a little of the old Ivy isn’t still rattling around in her head.

“Little Ivy is still present, at least I would like to utilize some of Clare’s performance and the beginning of her life on the show in the new Ivy,” Geha says. “There is a lot of room for growth and change because she’s been transformed by one of Strange’s monsters. So there’s a little bit of freedom there, but I do think Little Ivy’s still there.”

If the Season 3 image above, which was debuted by TV Insider, is any indication, she’s definitely still keeping some of her the younger Ivy’s fashion sense.

“Gotham” returns Monday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
