View moderator Whoopi Goldberg is getting back into the Sister Act habit. The Oscar winner will make her West End stage debut playing the stern Mother Superior in a British stage adaptation of the 1992 box office comedy, Sister Act.
In the original movie, Goldberg played Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer who goes into hiding in a San Francisco convent after witnessing a mob-ordered murder. In 2009, the popular story was turned into a smash hit London musical under Whoopi’s guidance as a producer. Now the actress, 54, will step onto the stage for 23 shows opening at the London Palladium on Aug. 10.
The Tony winner is a veteran of the New York stage and most recently starred in Broadway’s roller derby-themed musical, Xanadu.
