Why Isn't Chris Harrison Hosting Bachelor in Paradise's Live After-Show? "It Was…

Is there trouble in (After) Paradise?

When Bachelor Nation tuned into the first episode of After Paradise, the live Bachelor in Paradise post-show, they were a bit surprised to see their fearless leader, Chris Harrison, who has hosted every season of The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor Pad and BIP, missing in action. Filling in for him were Michelle Collins, a former co-host on The View, and fan-favorite former Bachelor Sean Lowe.

Seeing as how Harrison is filming Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in Las Vegas, one absence is understandable. But then it was revealed that Collins and Lowe will be the full-time hosts for After Paradise, with Harrison once again missing from Tuesday’s show. And fans wanted answers from their favorite host, and Harrison, ever dedicated to Bachelor Nation, was quick to respond.

When a fan tweeted at Harrison asking why he isn’t on the after show this year, Harrison responded, “Very sorry but trust me, wasn’t my call.” And when another BIP fan wrote to him saying it’s “not the same” without him, he said, “I miss it too, thanks.”

A source close to the host tells E! News Harrison is “heartbroken” over not being asked to host the after-show. “This is the first Bachelor show that he hasn’t been involved with,” our insider explains. “He’s really upset. Chris had every intention of being involved with the show.”

So what happened? ABC had no comment, but a source close to the show tells us Collins was chosen as the main host as she didn’t have the same access and knowledge Harrison had about the relationships and storylines on BIP

“They decided to try having a super fan host it,” our source says. “They wanted someone who wasn’t on the island and who didn’t already know what happened.”

Bachelor in Paradise airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m., while After Paradise airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
