Zooey Deschanel has been cast in the lead role in a new HBO series portraying the life of rock ‘n roll groupie Pamela Des Barres.
During the rock Golden Age of the 1960s, Des Barres filled the pages of her journal with stories of her exploits bus-hopping and free-falling with some of the leading musicians of the era. The self-professed Rock Groupie spilled the deets on her exploits in her bestselling 1987 memoir, I’m With the Band.
Fast forward a couple of decades, Now HBO is plotting an untitled autobiographical dramedy that plans to run through Des Barres’ romps with stars such as Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, and Jimmy Page. A script is currently being penned by Six Feet Under screenwriter Jill Soloway and co-producer Tim Gibbons, whose credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Deschanel will star in and co-produce the project. Des Barres and her ex-husband Michael are also reportedly contributing to the show.
A premiere date has not yet been announced.
