Zsa Zsa and her furs will soon be parted, says the husband of ailing screen dame.
Prince Frederic von Anhalt, who has been married to the 94 year-old Moulin Rouge icon for more than 25 years, is selling her collection of more than a dozen fur coats in an auction on his website, arguing that the $1,200 a month it cost to store the 14 furry frocks is too expensive. Gabor has been in and out of the hospital since injuring her hip in a bed fall last summer. She lost most of her left leg to amputation last month and now requires round-the-clock medical care. According to von Anhalt, the costs associating of maintaining Zsa Zsa’ fab wardrobe and her mounting medical bills are taking a tow on his pockets.
He’s reportedly coughed up over $200,000 on medical equipment alone.
“I need the money and I need the cash, and it (the storage) doesn’t make sense because my wife is not going to wear them,” von Anhalt told Reuters Tuesday.
He hopes the sale of her furs might raise as much as $100,000 and expects to hire an auctioneer later this month.
