On-again/off-again lovebirds Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are hoping a bundle of joy is their ticket back to the big time.
After failing to hawk a television docu-soap based on their upcoming wedding, the gorgeous couple has devised a diaper-fueled plan to develop a small screen series built around the former MTV VJ’s pregnancy.
Hey, it worked for Tori Spelling!
The ex-boy bander and former star of the MTV ratings juggernaut Newlyweds began dating Vanessa after his divorce from ditzy singer/actress Jessica Simpson in 2006. However, homebody Lachey and Minnillo have often found themselves at odds over the former beauty queen’s love of the Los Angeles nightlife.
Both hope a baby will help them settle their differences while fast tracking their careers, tabloid tattles claim.
“They feel starting a family will revive their careers and resolve the personal issues,” a snoop reveals to The National Enquirer.
Is it just us or does this baby-for-reality show plan just have “Epic Fail” written all over it?
Nick — who hosts the seasonal NBC singing competition The Sing-Off — came up with the baby idea after peddling a show based on his life with Vanessa to various cable network, only to be snubbed.
The Enquirer insider adds: “All the studio bosses said the same thing: The project needed a hook. In the end, they decided a baby would help both their relationship and their careers.”
