Oprah isn’t the only television icon whose life story is being made into a movie: Barbara Walters, 80, is in chats with HBO about possibly producing a television biopic based on her life and career in journalism.
The Emmy-winning cable network has expressed interest in purchasing the TV rights to Babs’ best-selling 2008 memoir, Audition. In the tome, the veteran newswoman spoke candidly about breaking the glass ceiling for female anchors at NBC and later ABC, her failures as a mother to a troubled teen daughter, and her secret interracial affair with married Sen. Edward Brooke in the 1970s.
“Walters met late last week with HBO brass at the cable channel’s Midtown office to discuss a documentary along the lines of Teddy: In His Own Words, the Teddy Kennedy biography that aired last year shortly after his death,” well-placed tipsters told The New York Post on Tuesday.
Any suggestions on who should play Babs?
